Program Notes
This work was composed in 1978 when Ms. Reese was selected to compose for a workshop sponsored by the Minnesota State Arts board. This is Reese’s first work for strings.
The main theme, an expressive and beautiful melody filled with melancholy and longing, is first exposed by the clarinet. The theme appears throughout the work in its original, canonic and inverted forms. This piece is mysterious and intriguing. Listen and visit the ancient city of the Moghul Emperor, Akbar.
