This anthem is based on Isaiah 60:1. It is a festival setting of a great, reassuring praise text: “Fear not!” The 7/8 meter is exciting. Arise and Shine has simple and effective modality and key relationships with a rhapsodic central episode. It is a fine piece for festival Sundays (especially Lent) as well as a general praise anthem.
