Description

Noctourne: Larry Peterson commissioned Black and White Line Drawing of Dreams in 1981 for his son Eric, a talented thirteen-year-old violist.

Miss Reese writes: When I asked Eric what he wanted in his piece, he said “something melancholy, brooding, and romantic.” I asked him to list the things he thought expressed the emotions he was describing. This piece is based on one of his statements which explained the dreamlike, other-world quality he experienced after a very long trip overseas; the feeling when you have arrived in a new place, that you do not yet exist there, and are floating, watching yourself.
