Karen Leigh-Post in Recital

I recently wrote about Karen’s concert on January 17. I just got a recording from her today! She was wonderful. Such sensitivity. I have not heard this piece since Tom and my wedding in ’97! We got a little teary-eyed listening! Good memories of that day for sure. If you want to sing this piece, the new version will be coming out as soon as I can find a publisher, or just email me.

I’m pleased and excited that Karen Leigh-Post will be singing a new version of the piece I wrote for my marriage to Tom, Arise My Darling, My Beautiful One. This piece was originally for Mezzo, Tenor and Organ. The new version is for Mezzo, Oboe, and Piano. I can’t wait to hear it. Karen selected this piece for her book American Art Songs for the Sacred Service, published by Classic Vocal Reprints. This is a great book with new music by modern composers. You can buy it right here: http://www.classicalvocalrep.com/products/American-Art-Songs-for-the-Sacred-Service-edited-by-Karen-Leigh-Post-100850.html

Karen will also be singing several other works from this collection. Here’s what she says about the program:

I LOVE this program. Delighted to feature some gorgeous music of women composers, including Fanny Hensel Mendelssohn and, from my edition of American Art Songs [not only] for the Sacred Service, “Agnus Dei/Sactus”, by Libby Larsen and “Arise My Darling My Beautful One” by Mona Lyn Reese (a vocal duet arr. for voice and oboe). Also from that anthology, we pay tribute to Stephen Paulus, with a wedding song he wrote for his brother, “Shall I Compare Thee” and yet another love/wedding song for voice and flute, “I Am the Rose of Sharon” by Curtis Bryant. In addition, Tony will chew up the ivories with our fantastic Duparc set.
